Surf Training Device

Designed with world champion Surfer Cory Lopez

The Twisted Fin 26 is a short, aggressive surf training board designed with world champion surfer Cory Lopez to train competitive surfers. At 26 inches long, it's the smallest board in our lineup and the most demanding. You ride it with your shoulders and hips, the same way you'd lean into a wave on a real surfboard. This is for serious surfers only.

Even skilled skaters should wear a helmet and pads. Take it slow on your first rides until you and the board get to know each other. The curved deck shape and small kick tail give you leverage for tail slides and 180s.

Choose Your HST Truck Configuration

Both setups deliver deep board lean, mounted on riser blocks with Hamboards' signature cast polyurethane wheels. Buttery smooth and wide enough to deflect small rocks before you ride over them.

CARVE — 40/40 "Dig and Carve" For crazy tight turning carve and drive, this has the 40/40 on an impossibly short wheel base. Center of turning is exactly between the two axels. Designed by Cory Lopez, famous surf champion for himself and his kids, this is the set up that they love. Throw the tail like you're hitting the lip and carve back down the face. The performance all-rounder for advanced riders who want everything from mellow cruising to aggressive rail-to-rail shredding.

SURF — 55/20 "Pump and Glide" Front-drive balance that prioritizes flow and the center of turning is directly under the rear heel. Same turning radius as the CARVE 40/40 but the center of turning is under the rear foot. This is the setup for surfskate enthusiasts. Build speed, make your S-turns, and generate forward thrust — this configuration cannot be cheated, the rider has to keep their center of gravity directly plumb with the deck.

Why the Twisted Fin is good for surf training

HST Trucks are different

Most skateboard trucks have flexible bushings which allow them to flex and rotate. Our patented HST Trucks use stiff springs and spherical wave cams that translate axle rotation into spring compression. These massive springs store the energy then give it right back to you. You don't need to lift the front to turn, just turn the board. HST trucks have smooth consistent rotations. The springs give strength and stability that enable the wheels to glide over road imperfections like you wouldn't believe.

Rotation and Lean

Our patented HST Trucks were designed to simulate a surfboard on water. Do not expect them to feel like other skateboard trucks. They are so responsive that some people call them loose.

Our trucks rotate up to 20° in both directions and lean up to 30°. This movement is much greater than most other skateboard trucks.

When you turn on HST Trucks, you feel like you are riding on an airplane wing in a banked turn. You get the sense that you are riding on the edge of your board, much like it feels to ride on a snowboard or a surfboard.

They also give just enough of a snappy return to center and truly feel like surfing.
