Walnut Classic

An ambitious project with mixed results

Last year we set out to make a Classic like we never made before. We made the deck out of birch with walnut veneer on the top and bottom. To give it some bling we added a brass stringer inlaid along the center of both sides. Our first batch of boards looked fantastic and they rode like dream. We were so proud of ourselves, and we sold all of our perfect boards in a private sale to previous Classic and Pinger customers, with a retail price of $999.99.

One Pristine = Too Many Blems

We will not be making any more of these boards.  The production process is too labor intensive and for every first quality board we get too many blems.

The problem is laquering brass is a very tricky and unless conditions are exactly right, small bubbles can appear as the lacquer cures. The bubbles on the stringer can be easily overlooked, but they are there and we aren't happy with it.

Our misfortune is your gain. Overall there are beautiful boards, but in good conscious we can't sell these as first quality. Therefore we have to sell them at the price of a blem. The deck is 6ft 2in long and 15in wide and comes with our latest generation of HST 2.0 trucks. Grab one now before we sell out. Once they are gone, they will be gone for good.

Dramatic Difference

Are you looking for a longboard to stand out from the crowd? This board will let you surf the streets in style. It has unmatched beauty and has been crafted with attention to detail.

Each board has been personally inspected by Don Sandusky, the co-founder of Hamboards and designer of this deck. Every board is hand numbered and signed by Don to signify his approval.

What is it?

The Classic features a stunning hand-crafted deck with surfboard dynamics.  The patented 200mm HST Carving trucks with our strongest gold springs and massive 97mm cast polyurethane wheels offer a ride that is shockingly familiar to longboard surfers and longboard SUP Surfers alike. This truly the world’s finest longboard surf style board on wheels.

This board will transport you straight back to the surfline and help you master pop ups, drop knee turns, toes over nose, cut backs, bottom turns and hanging heels (if you’re daring).

For pole skating, this extra long and wide deck allows you to paddle prone, so you can switch arms without the need to switch feet.

This board harkens back to the early days of surfing, when people rode hand carved hardwood boards.

Choose the HST truck set which suits your skill and style. All HST trucks give 30° degrees of board lean and allow the ultimate rail-to-rail flow They are mounted on massive 24mm riser blocks and clad with a set of Hamboards signature chocolate brown 97mm cast polyurethane wheels. The wheels are buttery smooth and literally kick-out small rocks before you can ride over them.

Which HST Trucks should you get?

Hamboards produces trucks with four different pivot angles, 55°, 40°, 20° and 0°. After years of testing and customer feedback, we have identified three setups which cover the majority of skill levels and customer riding styles.

HST 40°/40° — "Dig and Carve"
The Performance All-Rounder
Skill Level: Expert
This is the original setup that built Hamboards' reputation. If you're looking for deep carves and big turns with maximum versatility, this is the setup for you. The 40°/40° configuration delivers equal front and rear turning, letting you throw the tail of your board just like you're hitting the lip of a wave and carving back down the face. Once you're at speed, you have complete control over your ride—from easy cruising and technical footwork to wide-open shredding that digs deep into every turn. This is the ultimate performance setup for advanced riders who want the widest range of possibilities, whether you're seeking mellow flow or aggressive rail-to-rail carving that mirrors the most dynamic surf sessions.

HST 55°/20° — "Pump and Glide"
The Flow Specialist
Skill Level: Intermediate
If you're looking for effortless pumping and that smooth glide-down-the-line feeling, this is the setup for you. The 55°/20° configuration creates the perfect balance of front drive and rear stability, making it ideal for practicing footwork and cross-stepping while maintaining deep rail control when you need it. Once you build speed, you can make that critical turn down the line and immediately transition into nose walking with more control and ease than ever before. You can still engage the rail and carve when the moment calls for it, but this setup prioritizes flow over power—perfect for riders who love the glide and want to focus on style, technique, and that meditative connection between board and rider.

HST 55°/0° — "Crosstep Noserider"
The Traditional Logger
Skill Level: Beginner
If you're looking for maximum stability and authentic longboard tradition, this is the setup for you. The 55°/0° "log setup" locks your backend in place down the line, providing the ultimate platform for cross-stepping, footwork, and getting to the nose with confidence. While you can still engage the rail and make smooth turns when needed, this configuration is specifically designed for riders who want to master the classic art of noseriding and walking the board. This is the purest longboard experience—stable, predictable, and focused on the timeless style that defines traditional surfing, where getting to the nose and gracefully stepping back is the ultimate expression of flow and control.
