Carving or Surfskate?  Choose your riding style...

Carving is done on Centered Longboards which can be pumped to maximize forward thrust, pulling from the front and pushing from the rear, and it takes a lot of energy and skill from the rider.  Most traditional Hamboards are Centered Longboards.

Surfskate riding is done on Back Foot Longboards which can have a comfortable combination of carving and pumping, provided the rider has proper technique.  Most surfskates are some variety of back foot longboards and are generally easy to learn to pump.  All traditional Hamboards can be converted to Back Foot Longboards with different front and rear baseplates.

If you change your mind you can always come back and pick-up a different set of trucks, to transform your ride.

HST Trucks are different

Most skateboard trucks have flexible bushings which allow them to flex and rotate. Our patented HST Trucks use stiff springs and spherical wave cams that translate axle rotation into spring compression. These massive springs store the energy then give right it back to you. You don't need to lift the front to turn, just turn the board. HST trucks have smooth consistent rotations. The springs give strength and stability that enable the wheels to glide over road imperfections like you wouldn't believe.

Rotation and Lean

Our patented HST Trucks were designed to simulate a surfboard on water. Do not expect them to feel like other skateboard trucks. They are so responsive that some people call them loose.

Our trucks rotate up to 20° in both directions and lean up to 30°. This movement is much greater than most other skateboard trucks.

When you turn on HST Trucks, you feel like you are riding on an airplane wing in a banked turn. You get the sense that you are riding on the edge of your board, much like it feels to ride on a snowboard or a surfboard.

They also give just enough of a snappy return to center and truly feel like surfing.

I bought this board here in HB more than 10 years ago - I think its labeled #25 or something like that written in via sharpie. Anyways I pulled the board out of my garage recently and got back into it and when I went online I saw the details about the newly designed trucks and ordered a pair to put on. The board rips! its so predictable and goes on rail so nice now, what a dream to ride. Luckily I live on a street with a smooth 2-3% grade down and can get some speed then carve a series of turns - you can slide the board easily if you push hard enough at speed which I need to learn to do better. I also have a steeper grade hill thats probably like 8 degrees or maybe 10 - the fish just carves its way down - great snowboard or surfing simulation. I also have the smaller Burst board which is a ton of fun as well as the Pescadito but if you can only get one - get the fish. I like it because of its vintage feel but also it fits my surf stance. I have tried many different surfskates like Carver and others - none lean and go on rail like a hamboard. Especially if you have a longer gradual downhill your set.
